Are your offers or business draining you?
How to Tell if What You Sell Still Fits Your Life Stage
When I left corporate five years ago, my main goal was to escape the hustle and stress. I didn’t realize that the business I started was going to drain my energy as much, if not more.
That wasn’t what I was aiming for at all. I stayed with that business far too long, offering services I didn’t even enjoy simply because I thought I ‘should’.
Why ‘Shoulding’ Doesn’t Work
My previous business was accounting services and bookkeeping. I thought I ‘should’ do this because I came out of corporate accounting and auditing. I mean, what else would I offer? But three years in, I looked at the energy drain and lack of progress and realized that there is no “should”. It doesn’t matter what other people think or even what my brain tells me I should be doing.
I learned it’s all about energy. When we do things that are a drain on our energy, our brain starts to help us avoid those activities. For me this showed up as constantly revamping the financial services I offered and having them still not fit. Or avoiding marketing my business because I didn’t WANT more accounting clients. Crazy right? I wanted a growing business with revenue that supports my life. But I sure didn’t have that. I was sabotaging myself.
My Energy & Vision is NOT the Same
In midlife, my energy looks different than it did before. I want different things. I have a vision of the future that isn’t the same as it was 10, 20, or 30 years ago. And the business I started was absolutely not the one that fit my midlife energy and values.
So how do you know if you’re secretly sabotaging yourself and it’s time to realign? Look for these signs:
You dread marketing your offer because you just can’t think of anything to say about it.
The time it takes to offer your service doesn’t match the revenue it brings in.
Your business feels HARD with messy systems and processes.
Your business and/or offers don’t align with your energy or vision for your life now.
You know you need more clients to grow but you don’t actually want more because you already feel stretched thin.
If that sounds familiar, it could mean there is misalignment between what you’re doing and the vision of what you actually see yourself doing.
How to Realign
My Realign & Rise Method was designed based on my experience of realizing something was off and that it was time to do something different.
It took me way too long to come to this conclusion so I’ve packaged up what I learned to help other midlife women move out of what is no longer serving them into a more aligned life, faster.
In Conclusion
At the core of your business is you. Your business should reflect your vision, values, and fit into your lifestyle right now.
Growth doesn’t come from hustling harder. It comes from alignment. When your offers, systems, and energy align with your vision and values, that is where the true magic is. That’s when you’ll experience growth.
